LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) — Bolivian club Oriente Petrolero wants Blooming opponent Sergio Jauregui to be issued a three-year suspension for kicking Oriente player Leonardo Medina in the face with a flying kick in a football match last weekend.
Richard Mendez, a director with Oriente Petrolero, said league rules called for suspensions of up to three years for such on-field violence.
“And we want the maximum penalty,” Mendez said on Tuesday.
In Sunday’s match, Medina pushed Jauregui, and Jauregui responded with a martial arts-style flying kick that struck Medina in the neck and face. Medina was treated in a hospital and is expected to be sidelined for about two weeks.
Jauregui offered a public apology afterward.
The prosecutor handling the case said Jauregui committed “criminal aggression” and said he expected to file charges.
So remember when I said 98% of soccer fights are harmless, well this one actually fits in the other 2%.

Whoah man, this is insane! I remember watching Cantona’s kung fu kick (I was actually at that game!!) and that was ad, but this is just insane…how did the guy not see him running at him? Either way, he needs a serious suspension for this one!
